A GREAT FIRST WEEK!
Dear Bellevue Families,
We would like to thank our students, families and staff for a great start to the school year!
Our Welcome Back evening was a huge success. It really helps make the first day of school smooth for the kids. The students really did an amazing job this week, hats off to them! I would also like to thank our amazing staff, your hard work does not go unnoticed.
We had our first assembly in the gym today. We introduced all of the staff, talked about a few safety items and how to get help at recess. Please encourage your child to find a supervisor if he/she is reporting challenges at recess. We are happy to help. We also ended our assembly with some fun! Our Annual Terry Fox Walk/Run will be on Friday, September 13. Please send in Toonie for Terry if you would like to support this cause. We end our Terry Fox Day with our annual Pie in the Face contest at our outdoor amphitheater (2:30pm). We randomly draw students’ names who brought in a Toonie for Terry. This year’s lucky recipients are…..drumroll please……: Mrs. Kerr, Mlle Gylander, Me (Mme El-Khatib), Mr. Larson, and Mr. V!!!
This is such a beautiful time of year. We will focus on kindness and respect this upcoming month. I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful and safe long weekend.

DINNER TALK
This is a new section to our Bellevue News. Conversations with our children is such an important part of a healthy development and to foster a positive home-school connection. We will add a quick topic that you are welcome to use, and we will include current events, character education assemblies, etc from the school.
This Week:
NO SCHOOL
Reminder: there is no school on Monday September 2nd as it is a holiday.
DO YOU DROP OFF OR PICK UP YOUR CHILD AT SCHOOL?
We are asking for parents’ help to keep our students safe and be aware of our community neighbors. There are some areas that are not options for dropping off/picking up students.
1- Staff parking lot. Please do not use the staff parking lot as a drive through, drop off or kiss and go. PreK and Kinder parents please be mindful not to park in any area of the staff parking lot for student pick up/drop off. (parking exception for parents who’s children have a accessibility parking placard issued to the child)
2-Bus lane. The bus lane and business parking that is accessed in the back alley is not an option for drop off, kiss and go, or parking. The parking spots in the image are designated staff parking for their employees of the business in the upper building. They arrive at various times and need to have full access to their assigned parking spots. We have already received calls on this matter and we want to ensure we are good community partners.
Thank you so much for helping keep our students safe while arriving and leaving our school and being mindful of our community partners.
CROSS COUNTRY TEAM- sign up!
If your child is interested in the Cross Country team, please make sure they sign-up on the gymnasium doors.
Students grade 3-6 can participate in this event. We will have lunch recess practices with an afterschool race on September 19th @ Colonial Estates School where parents must transport & supervise their child.
Students in grade 4-6 can also compete in a second race during the school day on October 2nd @ Peace Hills Park Wetaskiwin where we will provide bus transportation and supervision during the school day.
Once your child has signed up, more information will be emailed out as well as a PowerSchool fee & form.
Deadlines:
Student sign-up: September 6
PowerSchool fee & form: September 13
ADMIRABLE USE – Chromebooks and other School Technology
Each year, Black Gold School Division requires students to agree to our Admirable Use policies to use our electronic devices (such as chromebooks) and our networks. These policies encourage students to use technology in a safe and responsible manner. Each student (grades 1-6) completes the Admirable Use Google form at school before she/he uses a Chromebook.
