    COVID UPDATE

Please see the District’s Updated COVID Plan.  Please note the new Vaccine Mandate for staff and parents.  At this time, we will still not be inviting parents into our building. We need time to figure out the operational pieces of this new policy.   We will still be having virtual activities until at least the new year. This includes our Remembrance Day and Christmas Concert.  We anticipate being able to welcome parents back into our building on a more consistent basis in the new year.

    TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS for CHILDREN

With breaks coming up and families planning different activities, we wanted to make everyone aware of AHS restrictions with International Travel.  Children, who are unvaccinated, that travel outside of Canada, must isolate for 14 days upon their return.  Please see this document for more information.

    TREES AT SCHOOL

We appreciate your support with our students and we kindly ask for your help with our trees. With fall here and winter approaching, the branches are becoming brittle and snapping. We also want our trees to stay with us for a long time and avoid any injuries. Please do not allow your child to climb a tree while they are at school. Thank you

    GAMES AND VIDEOS

We wanted to make our parents aware about videos on youtube, shows on netflix and other platforms, as well as video games.  We encourage parents to preview games or videos, to ensure that you are comfortable with what they are seeing.   Common Sense Media is a great website that provides great detail about what is in a video or game.  Everything has ratings, a rating may seem to be okay for their age, but the material may still not be appropriate.

We are noticing that many students are reporting that they are playing games, or watching videos, that are intended for much olders students or adults.  We respect parent choice in deciding what they allow their child to watch or play, but we ask that our students do not discuss or make reference to older material while at school.  Not all of our students are able to watch the same material and this way, we can respect all students.

    PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES

Parent-teacher conferences will be held virtually the week of November 1-4. You can book your interview using this website or this QR code (except PK and Kindergarten).  You have until November 1st at noon to book your interview time.  Teachers will either include the link for the meeting upon registration or email it out the day of the interview.

Please ensure you book a meeting with your teacher. It is an opportunity to discuss strengths and challenges for your child at school, and most importantly, you can set goals with the teacher for your child.

Just a reminder that we email home report cards on January 28th, 2022.

As always, please log into your PowerSchool to see your child’s up-to-date progress.

Kindergarten parents will receive link for their teacher.

    SOBEYS AND NO FRILLS

We are selling Sobeys and No Frills cards again this year.  You can access them through your Power School account and can be picked up in the office.

    HALLOWEEN

Students are welcome to come to school dressed up in their Halloween costumes on Friday, October 29. We do not have enough washrooms and change rooms to allow students to change at the school like we typically used to do over the lunch hour. We do want to caution you on a few things to keep in mind should your child/ren come to school dressed for the entire day. Please note that your child/ren will:

    • be eating throughout the day with his/her costume on
    • your child has to be able to properly wear his/her mask and be able to wash their hands
    • we cannot have any shared or donated food, so please do not send any treats
    • as usual, we do not condone any violent costumes or accessories, please be school appropriate

Please make sure that your child’s costume is appropriate for our school and respectful for all ages.  They should be respectful of the diversity of our school community.

Please do not bring costumes with any fake or real weapons.

Please do not send treats for your child’s classroom.  Students can bring treats for themselves and not for the rest of the class.

We cannot allow accessories as part of a child’s costume due to the nature of such items being lost throughout the school and possibly picked up/shared with other students.

We are also encouraging Orange and Black Day for Friday, October 29th as well. This might be a lot easier for parents and better to save costumes for Halloween.

    SCHOOL CLOTHING

Did you miss out on our school clothing order?  Do not worry, we will be bringing it back after Halloween. Stay tuned!
