SCHOOL TRAFFIC SAFETY: QUICK REFERENCE
We are having significant traffic concerns with drop off and pick up at our school, especially during the morning drop off. While we understand that families are busy and that mornings can be very challenging, we have to put our students’ and families’ safety first.
Please read and share the following information with anyone who brings your child to and from school:
The "Big Three" Rules
- No U-Turns: It is illegal and dangerous in a school zone.
- Speed Limit: Strictly 30 km/h.
- Crosswalks: Come to a complete stop until the crossing guard and all pedestrians are fully on the sidewalk. Do not "creep" or roll forward.
Where to Go (and Where NOT to Go)
Area | Rule |
Kiss & Go | No Parking. Stay in your car, let your child out, and move on. If you need to walk them to the door, park elsewhere. |
Staff Lot | Authorized Access Only: Do not enter the staff parking lot unless you are staff or have a government-issued accessibility placard. The accessibility stalls are not for those dropping off/picking up who remain idling in their vehicles. We need to keep those stalls open to those who need to access our school or school grounds. |
Bus Lane/Alley | Strictly Prohibited. Never use these for drop-off or pick-up. |
| No Vehicles. Do not drive onto walkways or playground surfaces. |
Smart Parking Tips
- Give Space: Do not park within 5 meters of a crosswalk (look past the yellow paint). This ensures the guard can see oncoming traffic.
- Use the Community Centre: We are lucky to have access to this lot! Use it to avoid the congestion on 50th Avenue.
A Note on Kindness: Our staff is out there to keep your children safe. Please treat them with respect—aggressive comments only make an already stressful time of day harder for everyone.
